Edward II

“But what are kings, when regiment is gone, but perfect shadows in a sunshine day?”

Son to an impressive father, husband to a passionate queen, father to a great king. In Christopher Marlowe’s darkly sexual and political tragedy, the fatally flawed Edward II faces the brutal consequences of court intrigue, powerful factions beyond his control and the depths to which humanity can sink when power is pursued above all else.

Produced by the Marlowe Society and adapted by Caroline Steinbeis for the Marlowe Arts Show.
